Our Internship positions are unpaid with flexible schedules, and duration (at least 5 months is preferable).  We will work with your college/school to meet credit requirements.  Must be able to commit to working a minimum of ten (10) hours a week, focused on performing organizational clerical duties and gaining firsthand Public Interest Advocacy experience.  Also, Interns will learn about supporting our efforts to increase public awareness campaigns, increase membership/fundraising, participate in organizational meetings, conferences, and training events. 

 

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Our Internship positions are open to Law/Research students, who have completed their first year of college, and who are enrolled in a relevant undergraduate program.  Students must maintain studies in Criminal Justice Law, Civil Law, Constitutional Law, and Family Law.

 

Applicants must possess the following

  • Must be 18 or older and be able to work independently, or as a team-player.

  • A strong interest in criminal justice and a commitment to civil rights.

  • Maintain strong organizational skills.

  • Excellent research, writing and communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills, particularly web-based research including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).

  • Strong problem solver with the ability to multitask.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide variety of office support tasks within the organization.

  • Answer, screen and direct phone calls from clients and customers, while greeting our walk-in guests.

  • Perform clerical duties such as sorting and sending mail, maintaining the filing system, preparing documents (such as reports and office

       memos), and making photocopies.

  • Maintain paper and electronic files, inventory, order supplies and equipment.

  • Schedule travel, appointments, and meetings.

  • Task prioritization, issue assessment and problem solving.

  • Ability to change focus from one task to another when necessary.

  • Customer service and teamwork should be your main priorities, along with attention to detail.

  • Oversee client correspondence and resolve client inquiries through social media platforms such as Twitter, Google+, and Facebook in a timely manner.

  • Manage campaigns online and generate copies for ads and blogs.

  • Generate creative ideas to advocate company products or services.

  • Take part in creating and distributing newsletters, and update the organization's online presence through posts and responses to questions.

  • Have a friendly attitude and strong oral and written communication skills to coordinate with others.

  • Research, retrieve and assemble background material for grant proposals.

  • Assist with other general tasks when needed.

  • Carefully research and examine data used to validate ideas and theories.

  • Report findings regularly.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as the face and voice of the organization, bridging the gap between the organization and the community.

  • Assist with developing prospective programs and overseeing them from inception to fruition.

  • Monitor programs to fit regulations and handle communications with representatives of the community.

  • Recruit volunteers to the organization, as well as overseeing their progress and work.

  • Disseminate organizational information.

  • Conduct Community Surveys.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Video production, including creative conception, pre-production, post production, sound, and motion graphics support for dramatic, feature, documentary film. Green Screen, etc.

  • Assist with recruiting and training a team of energetic volunteers to assist with project.

  • Present ideas and timelines in brainstorming meetings.

 

Job Requirements: (We prefer some experience or a strong interest in-)

  • Narrative storytelling for Documentary film.

  • Experience in audio recording/mixing and color correction.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite CC, Final Cut Pro X, and Avid Media Composer.

  • Advanced level proficiency in Premiere and Final Cut Pro X.

  • Familiarity with tapeless workflows, a variety of codecs, and metadata.

  • Task prioritization, issue assessment and problem solving.

  • Ability to change focus from one task to another when necessary.
